Golf Sim Plans

Best Home Golf Simulator Build for $5,000-10,000

Short answer: for most golfers in this range, we'd start with a SkyTrak ST MAX Premium Studio Package plus a gaming PC, about $6,694 before software.  It puts the launch monitor, enclosure, screen, mat and projector in one box from one company.  If you want the most launch monitor for the money and don't mind assembling parts, a Uneekor EYE MINI LITE build comes in around $9,815.  If depth is your limit or you want to keep cash in your pocket, a Rapsodo MLM2PRO build runs about $6,836, but it needs more room behind the ball.

All prices below were checked on manufacturer or retailer pages in October 2026.  Prices change often, especially during sales, so click through before you buy.  Every room spec is based on manufacturer specs.  We haven't tested these builds hands-on.

Before you pick a build, check your ceiling.  Our guide to how much ceiling height you need for a home golf simulator covers swing clearance, room width and ball-to-screen distance in detail.

Build 1: SkyTrak ST MAX Premium Studio Package (about $6,694)

This is the simplest way to spend $5,000-7,000.  SkyTrak sells the launch monitor, enclosure, screen, mat and projector as one package.

Part Product Price (Oct 2026)
Launch monitor, enclosure, screen, mat, projector SkyTrak ST MAX Premium Studio Package (ST MAX, steel-frame enclosure with impact screen, 5x5 hitting mat, putting turf, ZW350ST short-throw projector) $4,695.00 (regular $5,995.00)
PC Shop Indoor Golf Gaming PC for Golf Simulators (Intel Core i7-14650HX, RTX 5070, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD) $1,999.00 (regular $2,500.00)
Mount and cables Projector mounting hardware for the 10', 12' and 13' Studios is included, per SkyTrak Included
Total $6,694.00

Do you need the PC?  SkyTrak's system requirements list Windows 10 or 11 with an Intel Core i5, 8 GB RAM and a GTX 1650 as the minimum.  macOS and iOS need an Apple M1 chip or better, and SkyTrak says no iPhone currently works with course play.  If you already own a capable computer or M1+ iPad, skip the PC and this build drops to $4,695, which is below this guide's range.  With a dedicated sim PC, plan on the full $6,694.

SkyTrak's other packages: the Standard Studio Package is $4,195 and the Ultimate Studio Package is $5,195 (regular $5,495 and $6,495).  Per SkyTrak's listings, Standard drops the putting turf, and Ultimate adds a protective case for the ST MAX, a ball tray and an Optoma GT2300HDR projector in place of the ZW350ST.

Room size, based on manufacturer specs: SkyTrak's plan-your-space page lists the Studio 10 (10' W x 8'6" H x 5'4" D) as needing a minimum room of 11 ft wide x 16 ft deep x 9 ft high, with 12-14 ft wide, 17-20 ft deep and 9-10 ft high as ideal.  The Studio 8 fits a minimum of 8.5 ft wide x 15 ft deep x 8 ft high, but SkyTrak notes a standard golfer needs at least a 9 ft ceiling to swing a driver.  On the 8' Studio the projector is floor mounted.

Yearly software: SkyTrak's membership page lists Core: Foresight at $299.99/yr, Core: Trackman at $349.99/yr and Elite at $599.99/yr.  SkyTrak's membership guide lists Essential at $129.99/yr (practice tools, no course play).  Course play starts at Core.  The package includes a 14-day trial.

Build 2: Rapsodo MLM2PRO DIY build (about $6,836)

The MLM2PRO is the least expensive launch monitor here, which frees up money for a better enclosure and projector.  The catch is room depth: it sits behind the ball, not beside it.

Part Product Price (Oct 2026)
Launch monitor Rapsodo MLM2PRO $549.99 (regular $699.99)
Enclosure and screen Carl's Place DIY Golf Enclosure Kit with Impact Screen, Standard screen, 7'7" x 10' $1,149.95
Frame Carl's Place Pipes for DIY Enclosure Kit, 7'7" x 10' $389.95
Mat Carl's HotShot Golf Mat System, 4x5 mat with Standard insert (the lowest configuration; bigger mats cost more) From $499.95
Projector BenQ AH500ST (1080p, 4,000 lumens, 0.5 throw ratio, laser) $1,999.00
Mount Carl's Place Flush Projector Mount $247.95
PC Shop Indoor Golf Gaming PC for Golf Simulators $1,999.00
Total About $6,835.79

Do you need the PC?  Not to get started.  Rapsodo says the MLM2PRO pairs with Apple or Android phones and tablets, and you can send the picture to a projector over HDMI.  Rapsodo lists GSPro, E6 and Awesome Golf as compatible third-party platforms, and Rapsodo Studios needs "a compatible PC."  Skip the PC and this build drops to about $4,836.79, which is below this guide's range.

Room size, based on manufacturer specs: Rapsodo says you need "a little more than 14 total feet": 8 ft from ball to net, plus 6.5-8.5 ft behind the ball for the unit.  Taller players may need to move it farther back.  Add about a foot behind the screen, which Carl's Place builds into its 15 ft minimum depth.  For width, Carl's Place lists 10 ft minimum with an offset hitting area and 14 ft+ for centered hitting.

Yearly software: Rapsodo's FAQ lists Core at $199.99/yr and Rapsodo Studios at $399.99/yr, billed yearly with no monthly option.  The MLM2PRO comes with a 21-day Core trial.  If you want GSPro, it's another $250/yr, and Rapsodo says third-party connections require Core.

Build 3: Uneekor EYE MINI LITE DIY build (about $9,815)

This build puts more money into the launch monitor.  The EYE MINI LITE is a camera unit that sits on the ground beside the ball, so it doesn't add depth behind you.

Part Product Price (Oct 2026)
Launch monitor Uneekor EYE MINI LITE $1,999 (regular $2,750)
Enclosure and screen Carl's Place DIY Golf Enclosure Kit with Impact Screen, Premium screen, 9' x 12' $1,749.95
Frame Carl's Place Pipes for DIY Enclosure Kit, 9' x 12' $414.95
Mat Carl's HotShot Golf Mat System, 4x9 mat ($700) with Standard insert ($79.95) $779.95
Projector BenQ AH500ST $1,999.00
Mount Carl's Place Flush Projector Mount $247.95
PC ABS Stratos II Aqua S2A49N57T2 via Newegg (Windows 11 Home, Intel Core i9-14900KF, RTX 5070 Ti 16GB, 32GB DDR5, 2TB SSD) $2,599.99 (regular $2,999.99)
Ethernet 2 x TP-Link UE306 USB 3.0 to Gigabit Ethernet adapter via Newegg at $11.99 each $23.98
Total $9,814.77

The PC isn't optional here.  Uneekor's EYE MINI LITE page says "PC is required (not included)."  Uneekor also sells its own SurfThing Enhanced Level computers at $3,799 (desktop) and $3,699 (laptop), which would push this build past $10,000.  Uneekor's listed system requirements are Windows 11, a 12th Gen or later Intel Core i7 or a Ryzen 7 5000 or later, 32 GB RAM, an RTX 4070 Ti or equivalent (16 GB of graphics memory for VIEW with AI Trainer), and 2 dedicated Ethernet ports (one for the launch monitor).  We picked the ABS Stratos II Aqua because its Newegg spec page lists Windows 11 Home, a 14th Gen Core i9-14900KF, 32GB DDR5 and an RTX 5070 Ti with 16GB, a newer card than the 4070 Ti.  That spec page doesn't list Ethernet ports, so we budgeted two TP-Link UE306 USB-to-Gigabit Ethernet adapters.  Uneekor doesn't say whether USB adapters count as dedicated ports, so confirm with Uneekor support before you rely on them.

Room size, based on manufacturer specs: Uneekor's space guidance recommends at least 13 ft wide x 15 ft deep x 10 ft high for the average user, 15 ft wide for golfers 6 ft or taller, and 12 ft from screen to tee (10 ft minimum, watching for bounce-back).  The EYE MINI LITE's hitting zone is 12" x 8", per Uneekor.  The 9' x 12' enclosure needs its own headroom, so measure before you choose that size.

Yearly software: Uneekor's membership page lists Player at $0 (ball data, club data, virtual driving range), Pro at $199/yr (adds third-party software and 5 Refine courses), Champion at $399/yr and Ultimate at $599/yr, billed annually per unit.  The Player Package comes with every Uneekor launch monitor.  Uneekor lists "Play Third-Party Software" starting at the Pro tier, so if you plan to run GSPro, budget $199/yr for Uneekor plus $250/yr for GSPro.  GSPro's pricing page confirms that Uneekor users need an active Pro Package.
